Dear Friends,
Today, Charlie, our little spaniel mix died. He began having seizures every 20 minutes yesterday and couldn't be stabilized. Dr. Cardera gave him enough Phenobarbital for a 55 lb dog (he was 20 lbs), all kinds of blood tests and IV. Nothing worked and they couldn't stop the seizures.. They don't know why....he didn't eat anything bad.
Charlie suffered a lot in his past. He was the next dog scheduled for euthanasia at the shelter. He was in such bad condition when we got him.
It was Valentine's Day when we took him out.
Virginia agreed to foster him. She gave him more love than you can imagine. She had him groomed, took him to vets for us for tests, dental work, extractions, etc. She loved him and took him for nice walks and just cuddled with him. She was always thoughtful and concerned for him and treated him like gold.
Charlie was with us for 6 weeks. He had a wonderful 6 weeks of care and love.
I want to thank you for your part in his rescue. Thank you for believing in him, for posting him, for Michelle Johnson who said, "yes," for Candy for supporting the decision to try to save him...but especially for Virginia who became his advocate and his mom.
I want you all to know this because although it is sad he is gone, he did know true love. We aren't ever promised a certain amount of days. I am thankful to be a part of an organization that does the best thing for these little ones.
Thank you for listening. God bless you!
Judy
